Today’s figma review is the White Devil… err, ACE of the TSAB herself, Takamachi Nanoha from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.
Now, this is what I’m talkin’ about! After the somewhat disappointing 004 release, Nanoha comes with a veritable plethora of accessories! Yes, I said ‘plethora!’ Look at that picture! Included with the figure is the standard three jointed stand and base, set of hands painted for Nanoha’s use and a figma bag. The skirt you see in the middle of the image actually comes attached to the figure, but as you can see, it can be cast off, making her look much more natural when posing her without the stand. I went a little overboard with her today snapping pics because it’s so fun to pose her! Of course, she comes with Raising Heart, available in staff mode and shooting mode. Sorry, Nanoha fans, no Excelion mode or Blaster System =/ A standard optional angry face is also included, as well as a set of bangs with her hair on the other side of her face. Lastly, she comes with flight wings for her shoes that you can use when you pose her in flight. Max Factory and Good Smile Company introduces twin-tails to their line-up. Nanoha’s twin tails are connected to her head by a small ball joint and are movable and removable as well.
Pros: Accessories accessories accessories! Thank you ye figure gods! Nanoha comes with a TON of stuff. From the flight wings to Raising Heart this release beats the previous ones hands down
Cons: I’ve heard many people have problems with the head portion of the figure. Mainly that the bangs and face are a lot looser than previous figmas. I had to add a little bit of tape to the inside of the bangs that goes into the slot into her head to keep it from slipping out. This is true for the alternate set of bangs as well. The shoulder pauldrons from her Barrier Jacket restrict her arm movements somewhat, making it difficult to set her arms up against her body. Maybe it’s because I played with her so much being my first figma after Chou Yuusha Haruhi, but her joints are a little loose. Sometimes when you put the hands in, they’ll get really stuck in the hole. I do not recommend trying to yank the hand out at this point, but gently wiggling the hand around until you can easily slip the ball out of the joint and remove the hand. For some reason, the hole in her back is slightly bigger than the peg in the stand, so it’s amazingly loose. The hole is also not as deep as in other figmas, so when the stand is attached, Nanoha will sometimes fall off. I added some double-sided tape to the peg in an attempt to keep her peg in the back. Cosmetically, there are a few black marks on her hip from the battle skirt.
Nanoha is a great purchase. I remember eagerly awaiting her arrival at work when I tracked my package to San Diego being out for delivery. Raising Heart is a great accessory to add to other figma. Even though I went off on cons above, I really love my Nanoha figma. I wouldn’t trade her for anything else. Nanoha ranges between $25-35 before shipping costs at most online stores. Zenryoku zenkai!
